Camping

We’ve got three Festival camping options available:

Campgrounds (self-catered)

This option is available to those who supply their own swag, tent, caravan, camper, RV etc., with both powered and unpowered sites up for grabs. To help keep like-minded patrons together, campers can elect to stay in either the Family/Quiet Zone (with a late night noise curfew) or in the Groups Zone. Whichever zone is chosen, there are three campsite sizes to consider:

  • Large (powered or unpowered): 12m x 7m, 6 guests
  • Medium (unpowered only): 7m x 7m, 4 guests
  • Small (unpowered only): 3.5m x 3.5m, 2 guests

Rent a Tent (pop-up village)

Enjoy camping but won’t have all your gear with you? Don’t need the hassle of setting up your own site? Rent a Tent in our pre-constructed pop-up village! Every tent is fully floored, carpeted, and fitted with an internal 12V light, and you can hire a comfort pack (including bedding, pillows, camp chair, esky and table) or simply BYO. We’ve got sites to accommodate groups of 2, 3, or 4. Learn more and book here.

Glamping (full-service luxury bell tents)

Looking for a little something extra from your camping experience? Our deluxe bell tents include linen, towels, rugs, lighting, a welcome pack and furnishings, accommodating up to five people*. The glamping area features adjacent toilets and showers, with a dedicated area for guests to use hair straighteners and dryers. Basic kitchen facilities are provided, including refrigeration, tea and coffee station, and a toaster. A chill-out/communal area is provided for our glamping guests to relax, enjoy a hot or cold beverage, play a board game or just soak up the festival atmosphere. Feeling peckish, or in need of a caffeine fix? Our friendly volunteer crew will gladly source these items from onsite vendors and deliver to the glamping area. (*Bedding configuration is subject to availability.)

Mareeba/Tablelands

If you're looking to stay off site, there are some fantastic accommodation options across the Atherton Tablelands. From AirBnbs to resort style lodgings at Lake Tinaroo, a variety of daily express shuttles will operate between key locations and the Festival, or you can choose to drive yourself and park onsite. If you're self driving from Cairns, make sure to always check the Kuranda range road on the day for accurate traffic conditions.

For the inside scoop and personalised advice on accommodation around Mareeba and the Tablelands, contact Sandrine Gloton at the Mareeba Heritage Museum and Tourist Information Centre on (07) 4092 2906 or visit@mareebaheritagecentre.com.au.

Cairns

Staying in Cairns offers the best of both worlds, with stunning reef and rainforest adventures at your doorstep and the Savannah in the Round express shuttle. A 63km journey, taking approximately 90 mins, it operates daily between Cairns and the Festival precinct.

For those flying into Cairns, Savannah in the Round's accommodation partner Pullman Cairns International is offering specials for Savannah festival-goers. Book your stay at Pullman here and receive a 15% discount and parking.

Port Douglas

If a super-relaxed Port Douglas vibe is more your scene, there is a variety of accommodation options including hotels, motels, and camping. Our top pick is the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, located right on famous Four Mile Beach. You can also take the Savannah in the Round express shuttle from Port Douglas to the Festival - an 87km (70 min) journey passing through Mount Molloy. It’s one of Tropical North Queensland’s most scenic drives!
